"My Endearing Home" Photography Competition + NJC Photog Seminar

"My Endearing Home" Photography Competition The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is holding a photography competition based on the theme of "My Endearing Home". This photography competition is held as a fringe event to our My Endearing Home Exhibition, which will be exhibited at seven popular shopping malls across Singapore from May to August 2009. More information on the exhibition can be found at the following website: http://www.ura.gov.sg/myendearinghome/

The My Endearing Home photography competition is open to members of public.

There are two competition categories, the "My Home" category and the "My Heritage" category:

"My Home" Category (The top three prizes range from $300 to $600)
Starting date of submission: 16 May 09
Closing date of submission: 21 June 09

"My Heritage" Category (The top three prizes range from $800 to $2,000)
Starting date of submission: 16 May 09
Closing date of submission: 16 July 09

The competition was recently launched by the Minister for National Development Mah Bow Tan at the opening of the My Endearing Home exhibition on 16 May 2009 in Marina Square.

NJC Seminar

Indeed, we will be having a seminar, which is a follow-up to the competition that we had earlier last month. As such, we are cordially inviting all photographic enthusiasts from your institution to attend SNAP! - A Nationwide Photography Seminar organized by National Junior College (NJC).

The seminar will be held on Saturday, 6th June 2009, at Ngee Ann Kongsi Performing Arts Theatre in NJC from 1:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. The seminar offers aspiring photographers with the opportunity to explore various genres of photography, and to appreciate the different aspects of it.

We have invited 3 renowned photographers, Edward Chong, Raymond Chua and Chua Kheng How to be speakers at our seminar, with each speaker touching on topics like Nature Photography, Flash Photography and Techniques on Enhancing Images with Photoshop respectively.

Additionally, there will be a prize presentation for winners of the SNAP! Competition, all of whom will stand to receive attractive prizes sponsored by Nikon. Our exhibition, in conjunction with the seminar, will also be occurring on the same day in NJC. The exhibition will showcase 29 winning entries from the SNAP! Competition.

Located at Block 107, Towner Road, S’pore 321107 (near Boon Keng MRT), AWWA Family Service Centre (AWWA FSC), will be having its Annual Open House Day on 4th August 2007, Saturday from 10am to 3pm.

The objective of AWWA FSC Open House Day is to promote our community-based family services to the public and other organisations and agencies within our service boundary.

The services that AWWA FSC provide include information & referral, casework & counselling, services for children and youths, services for parents, families and stepfamilies as well as promotion of volunteerism.

To publicise the event as well as to ensure the smooth running of Open House Day, we do need the help of volunteers prior to the event as well as on that day itself.

hey photogs here's the location of our booth.

pls familiarise yourselves with the game rules/ how the game works:

SHOOT-OUT

1. Participants can participate as individuals or as a team (no limit to no. of ppl)

2. From the 10 postcards, let the participant pick out one of them randomly

3. Once he/she has finished reading the card, start timing him/her for the game. Time limit is 8 mins (i.e. he/she must report back to photog booth by the end of the 8 mins to win the prize)

4. He/she is to snap photos of 3 specified things listed on the card within 8 mins using camera phone/ digi cam: i) A place in NYJC ii) A photog member iii) Any member of a particular CCA

5. He.she must pose with all 3 things listed in each photo taken.

6. If task is completed within 8 mins, prize is given ( a set of 4 card-sized neoprints worth $2).

Sale of Neoprints (a set of 4 card-sized, at $2)

1. Photo is taken (with the use of backdrop)

2. Load photo into laptop. Select template for neoprint.

3. Print out the pics and collect payment.

Specific Roles needed: Cashier (to collect $ from sales), 2 fixed game masters, 2 fixed ppl for sale of neoprints, at least 1 fixed promoter, mobile promoters, mobile event photographers.
